Field Day
Tallahassee Amateur Radio Society (TARS) is again holding their annual Field Day at the St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church?, 3413 Old Bainbridge Road, north of I-10. While Field Day is a contest, it is focused on emergency communications. Our club uses this event to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season. All stations will be operating on generators, simulating emergency conditions. There will be phone, CW and VHF (6 meters) stations operating in trailers/RVs. We will start setting up around 8 am in preparation for the kickoff at 2 pm. There will be foxhunting, education (antenna building) and licensing (11 am) in the morning and a GOTA station will be operating all day enabling everyone, licensed or not, to "Get on the Air."
