Civil Air Patrol (official civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force) is a nonprofit group of over 1,500 members in MD. CAP conducts 90% of search/ rescue missions for the USAF & flew 42 search/ rescue missions w/ 31 finds in MD & performs homeland security & disaster relief missions for federal, state & local agencies. CAP's Cadet Program allows youth 12-18 to progress self-paced in program of aviation, leadership training & physical fitness. Cadets compete for academic scholarships in engineering, science, aircraft mechanics, aerospace medicine, meteorology & others. There is no military obligation,but, if a Cadet joins the military they may enter at a higher rank. If its flight training, computers, communications, photography, survival training, astronomy-there's a place for you in CAP. Cadets have the chance to solo fly an plane at flight schools; others may travel abroad w/ the International Air Cadet Exchange. Cadets receive their uniform free & learning materials.

Basic CERT training. Class schedule: Friday evening 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. CPR certification is included.

The Formidable Footprint exercise series has been developed in accordance with Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) protocols. The objective of the exercise series is for CERTs, Neighborhood Watch Programs, Neighborhood Associations, Community / Faith Based Organizations, Citizen Corps, Fire Corps and others to work as a team to become better prepared for the next disaster their community may face. There is NO CHARGE for participation in any of the Formidable Footprint exercises. The Be Ready Sunday initiative has three easy to follow steps that will ensure your house of worship is prepared in the event a fire should occur during worship service.
