On Tuesday September 11, 2012 volunteers from the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for Sangamon, Menard and Logan Counties of Illinois will partner with local businesses and other volunteer organizations to have a day of service as a tribute to remember 9/11. Our service project is to collect supplies and organize 1000 basic disaster kits for homebound and/or low income seniors in our community to tie into September being Disaster Preparedness Month. www.911day.org www.ready.gov www.seniorcorps.gov We plan to have four, two hour shifts of 20-25 volunteers to help pack 250 kits per shift. Feel free to contact us for more information. We are currently arranging sponsors/donations as well as organizing a list of interested volunteers.
