New Lenox, Illinois 20-Hour Basic CERT Class
The New Lenox Police Department will be hosting a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) 20-Hour Basic Course starting on Wednesday September 5, 2012. The Course is FREE to New Lenox residents and will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the New Lenox Police Department. The Final Exercise and Graduation will be held on Saturday October 20, 2012 from 9:00am to 1:00pm. The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
